Wow, a few of you have some very sad FF tales I feel for you guys! Fortunately I do not have any FF horror stories that come to mind. The only kinda crappy thing that's happened (and honestly I don't care because I don't like the game at all) was I went to play my FFX-2 on the PS2 back when it was new/er and something was wrong with the disc itself and how it was made. I'd pop it into my PS2 and I'd get this weird red screen and it'd have an error saying it was unable to read the disc. Meh, oh well! I now have FFX-2 with my HD copy of FFX and I still have no intention of ever playing through it :-p So... Are you saying you have not played ff x-2. If so you should really give it a chance. Yeh I wud second that, u shud give it a try, definetly not one of the best stories but it's fun to play

When I was back in middle school and was playing ffX for my second playthrough I was on my way to finally completing the sphere grid unlike my first playthrough when I simply just completed the game and did nothing extra other than grabbing the extra aeons. As I was finishing up some grinding and anticipating the last little bit of the sphere grid I was about to complete, I went to save. As I'm saving my mom walks in my room to tell me to eat dinner and in doing so she flicks on 1 of the 2 light switches to turn on the lights in my room. 1 of the switches turns on the lights and the other switch turns off several outlets in my room. She flicked the switch that controlled the power in my room and turned my ps2 off while I was saving...i lost absolutely everything. I remember crying alot at the time when it happened lmao Oh man. That is absolutely horrible. Even as a man in my mid-twenties, that would probably make me cry. Just reading this makes me feel anxious about saving Haha yea jus think about if you were playing FF during a bad storm and the power went out as you were saving...disaster waiting to happen -_-

The first time I played FFX I got to the the Thunder Plains and then my save was corrupted and I had to redo EVERYTHING from the beginning... I almost didn't want to start it again. I did though and got back there in about half the time but it did make me angry.
FF3 got killed and lost all my progress in the final dungeon area since its full of strong enemies and bosses and is really big. I loved it though...

I have the same issue in my house currently . my folks seem to think if something is wrong with a switch they need to the rip fuse out of the fuse box just to fix it. Many times they do this without warning and not tell anyone. I am almost always in the middle of a playthrough of ffxiv and then while I am in a dungeon or talking on team speak to my fc buddies. BLOOP. There goes the computer and all the electricity in the house. You can probably imagine I am saying curse words like a sailer of old.

I did start playing it eventually and I'm sorry, it's an awful game. The only thing I enjoyed about it was Paine and the dress sphere system.

Last night, I entirely forgot to save until after I'd been playing for several hours, and it actually did start storming by that point. I couldn't stop thinking about this story, and my heart was racing while my game saved. I made it through, but when I woke up this morning, the power was out. I don't know when it happened, but I was grateful it didn't happen while saving.

Schnitzeltime, that is awful. That is definitely one of the more terrifying things about playing those PS1 3-4 disk games. Each time I get prompted to put in the next disk, I'm just thinking "please, PLEASE work!" Happened to me with Chrono Cross's second disk on my fourth or fifth playthrough. I was still pretty young, but went and bought another copy of the game. Over time, I've lost several of my belonging, and now I have two Chrono Cross disk cases, and TWO disk 2's (one of which works) and NO disk 1's. Yeah it's the worst feeling popping in the next disc. Can't say I've played Chrono Cross so I can't compare there. But I have an FFVII with a faulty disc 2 around the part where the weapons attack Juno. It's possible to get through it but you really have to mess with the playstation. I have a very faulty FFVIII disc 3 right at the beginning where you're playing as Laguna in that movie scene and the real ruby dragon pops up. Bought a new copy for that. Had a bad copy of FFIX disc 2 that just wouldnt load so I bought a new copy of that and that's where my previous story kicked in. I think the only multi disc games I have that aren't messed up are legend of dragoon (which is a surprise because I've owned that longer than all of the others), Lost odyssey, and stupid FFXIII.

If you want to avoid discs not working its best to buy the digital version of the game and keep your discs safe in their case.

Ugh, not FF related, but my old laptop had several digital-only games on it, and I'd forgotten my username for the site I'd purchased them from. That laptop's HD critically-failed about 5 times over the 5 years I owned it. Each time was a new onslaught of depression, haha.
