Wondering if anyone else has a favorite class, overall, from any game in the series. It can even be a particular instance of the class, like the Freya version of Dragoon/Red Mage. Why is it your favorite?
Personally, my favorite class is the Tactics instance of Knight. I'm a huge sucker for capes, and I just think FFT's Knights are cool as hell, even if they're abilities aren't great, and they may be a little too slow. However, the amount of power they can deliver makes them a fun class to play with, and one of the reasons I love FFT so much is that you get to individualize characters that can be brought together to make a great party. Even late into FFT I have a strong tendency to stick with the generics from the beginning, and make a 5-member party of two male knights, Squire Ramza, female Time Mage, Female White Mage. As I advance I allow them to stray as necessary for some added stat boosts and secondary abilities, but towards the end, this is pretty much my party any time I play.
(also, if this thread has already been created elsewhere, oops!)

Does the Thunder God's "Sword Saint" class from FFT count? In terms of my favourite, I've always had a thing for the Ninja/Assassin classes and characters like Edge, Shadow, and Amarant. But I think in terms of sheer pound-for-pound usefulness I'd go with the white mage. Good defense wins championships

I would have to go for Samurai for the physical class with Paladin a close second and summoner for the magical class with ofc white Mage a close second, tho it is rewarding keeping your team alive you can't beat the entertainment value of seeing summons being cast but i would choose the physical over the magical

And I definitely agree with ninja/assassin and the white mage. I feel the benefit of a white mage manages to keep a lot of the games fun. Once you get overpowered, the white mage tends to be the character that you still have to be careful with, and allows you to play battles without just mashing "attack" the whole time. Magoo, Samurai and Paladin are pretty great classes. The entire Dark Knight / Paladin swap of FFIV was one of the primary reasons I loved the game. And summoner is great, but I tend to get irritated with the length of animations. I'm glad they make them so powerful, though, because otherwise I would never use them at all.

Sword saint is so cheap, especially with excalibur coming with it, that I couldn't possibly count that. But boy is it good. I would say my favorite class is the X-2 Dark knight. A ton of usefulness and all 3 of the girls have pretty cool outfits. Darkness, black sky, status immunities and tank stats are all fantastic

Yeah, I agree that Sword Saint is pretty cheap. The first time I played the game, once I got Cid, I used him in every following battle. Every time I've played since then, I don't use him even once, nor the Excalibur. Cid and the Excalibur make things to easy.

I have always been a fan of the warrior class from the original ff games. I would always pair it up with dual weild and would stomp the floor with a wall of warriors. Now that ff14 is out and I can play it again I am so joyful on my experience with it. Whether it comes from the high HP or the massive DPS damage and also the greatest thing it can do that non of the other games had. "SELF HEALING SKLILLS" now I can solo any fight as long as my level is high enough. So if level limit was not a issue I would grind to as high as I could go before doing any dungeon and then solo stomp the crap out of all the enemies.lol hahaha taste my blood red axe!!! HaHahahahaha

Yeh they do get tedious after awhile, they shud always come with a second shorter animation I think

So I have to go Paladin as my fav in like every game I can play that class. Monks are crazy OP so always a nice addition. Red mages just look bad ass, nothing more needs to be said bout them. And as for FFT, the calculator could be super powerful early on if you lvl him up. Also kinda funny using math as your power.

I'm a big fan of the ninja or samurai jobs. Usually quick characters, with light armor, and multiple hits and good counters. After playing the XIII series I've taken a liking to the saboteur job. Just devastating the enemy with debuffs adds a mortal combat like feel to it. I've got poison, slow, deprotect, deshell in effect now finish him!

A lot of the times they can surround my ninja and if they try to strike him, he strikes first, pretty awesome!

The ninja class was a huge life saver in tactics because I worried more about attack rather than speed and that cost be dearly even so much as to halt my progression of the story. Speed and movement were key points I learned that day and also brought my fascinations with speedsters up.

I like the Black Mage job. I always look for the animation for all the spells in each game.

Especially when you master the job and have on the thief cap, because of the speed you can often times attack twice in a round.
