Hey guys
I have just downloaded FFVII on the App store. Being a FFVII tragic, there was no way that I was not going to purchase this game on my iPhone 6!
The transition to mobile device is better than I thought. The gameplay is seamless and the game looks great on the new platform. The controls are fluid, and they have introduced a stick control as well as the old D-Pad, and you can touch anywhere on the screen to activate it. I am still in Midgar at the time of writing this, and everything feels exactly as it did when I first played the game in 1997. There is even an on-screen button to turn random encounters off - genius.
What are your thoughts on the mobile edition of the game?

With further gameplay, I have unearthed some more info on FFVII on iOS. I discovered partway through Disc 2 - or the mobile equivalent of Disc 2, just before parachuting into Midgar - that you can max out all of your characters stats in the Menu. This automatically puts all of your party at level 99, with 9999 HP and 999 MP, and allows you to do max damage. This means that you can defeat the weapons easily on Disc 2. A massive cheat, but for someone who has played through the game and completed all of the side quests multiple times, it was fun to unleash massive damage without having to grind as much as previous outings. I also discovered that there is a guy in the Gold Saucer who will exchange your gil for GP. He appears near the house behind the save point, and will only be there randomly. Just go in and out the main entrance to the Gold Saucer until you see him. The most GP you can get each time is 100, at a cost of 100 Gil per GP. This makes places like the Battle Arena a breeze as you don't need to grind the games or Chocobo races for GP. I assume he existed in the original release of the game, but I admit that I have never noticed him before now. And yes, the W-item glitch still works
