What is the most difficult decision you've made related to a video game that you can remember? Could be either a purchase, choice, etc. Or just the most difficult experience you've had with anything game-related. I have one for each because they're both somewhat different questions. When I was 14 my xbox got the red rings so I had to mail it in to get fixed. Being jobless and lazy, I was basically giving up several hours a day of my life with that month or so of no xbox. I had just gotten Gears of War 2 at the time and was addicted to it, so I went a little insane. The decision-related story is alot less terrible but still a bit difficult. Last year I decided to give up video games (in addition to most other hobbies) for 6ish weeks so I could study for the MCAT after work. I ended up allowing myself to play a couple hours on weekends to maintain my sanity. That was difficult only in that my time was spent in the books instead of something fun, not specifically that it was giving up video games. That part was still challenging though because it has always been my favorite hobby. You guys have any similar experiences/decisions?

I don't know if I can pick one. I think my tough decisions are all connected to purchasing and playing. If I had to boil it down to one decision, it was that long ago I decided not to play games with my friends.
Now, I don't mean ever, but I can't play at the rate they do and still enjoy the game or have money. My group of friends will buy the newest shiny and then burn play o line together 24/7. That's wonderful, but just not something I was ever able to do. When I did try to join them it was usually not fun because I was behind in level or skill or because they had moved on. It was/is really frustrating when I start playing a game they enjoyed but then they deride me for it because it's old or not what they are currently playing.

Way back when I got halo 3 the people I wanted to play with had moved onto guitar hero or something. I wanted to do an example on purchasing and playing like you, but I couldn't come up with a truly good example. It's not like I walked through a garage sale, saw a mint condition copy of SNES Chrono Trigger and passed it by one time to eternal regret. That'd be a great story though haha. I tend to replay old games like alot of the forum so I also don't go buying games much. I think I agree though that playing alone is generally more enjoyable.

I think the only hard decision relating to gaming I've made was which system to follow when XBox 360 and PS3 were both new. I wound up going with the 360, because at the time, the Playstation didn't have much that I wanted. I got way into the Gears of War series, and as time went on, more and more things became available on most consoles. I had a PSVita and a DS to keep up with other things, and at the beginning of this year I finally bought a back-compatible PS3. Waaaay late to the game, I know. But I do love it, and have come to terms with the fact that as an adult, I can't play every single game I want to now. I don't have the time, and thus have to really pick and choose which series and games to devote to.
Adulting is the worst sometimes. But hey- if I want, I can also choose to have cake for breakfast. Winning.

I`ve played so many games where i had to make very hard choices its hard for me to pick one. Games like Elder scrolls and fallout has always had me to stop and think what my next action or choice should be. Mass Effect also was pretty good.
When it comes to consoles i had to pick PS4 or Xbox1, i picked PS4 so i could play FFXIV. I don`t have the PC yet to play it on PC so PS4 was a good choice.

Whether to buy a PS4 or a Wii U first. I chose the Wii U and regretted it... Some of the choices that you have to make in Until Dawn are incredibly hard, especially if you are trying to save everyone and can't clearly determine which choice will lead to that outcome.
