Aniero mentioned his first RPG was the Legend of Dragoon. I played this game when I was younger and remember liking it but that's all I remember lol.. Now I want to replay it!! Has anyone else played this game? Did any of you have a game that was more of a segue into FF for you like it was for Aniero?

Its a great game I glad he mentioned it and other on the forum have played it as well. The game is on the PS3 playstation store so you can easily buy and download it since physical copies of the game are kinda rare and expensive now.

I hate Sony for creating this game and never making any sequels to it... Seriously its a Sony 1st party IP and yet they haven't bothered making a sequel for ps2,ps3 and now on ps4 who knows...

Has anyone else played this game? Did any of you have a game that was more of a segue into FF for you like it was for Aniero? I was in the middle of playing it but got distracted(hopefully finish soon), loved the combat system in the game and the music is great. Not to mention a good story and some neat enemies :-) Only down side is graphics didn't age well much like other games of it's time ff7 ff8 etc... The older games with sprites tends to age well and most of the newer games are fine, but anything in the middle suffers from such jagged edges. Game itself is easy to play as the ps1 copies go for cheap can also get it on the Playstation Store for a dirt cheap price , think i got mine for 5 bucks. My first RPG was Super Mario Legend of The Seven Stars and it was a perfect segway into RPG's as i bought it because i loved Mario as a kid but had never played a RPG it was interactive enough and familiar enough to get me in the game but revolutionary to me as well. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good RPG. Also it was made by Square so it kinda ties into FF in a few ways ;-) Also on a side note i am loving the interview so far, never listened to Limit Break radio but definitely might give it a listen know.

I keep hearing about a remake, but been hearing that rummer for many years know. A shame really, I think this game suffer so much know for the graphics of it's time and if someone could remake this game with today graphics i imagine would be an epic smash hit. I mean as i was playing, the dragons you fight look more like giant insects then dragon, the characters got the same blocky feel as FF7, and it is hard sometime to navigate the game because of this. But the battle system itself was fun and interactive it really kept you involved in combat, the enemies were cool and could easily feel myself feeling emotions toward them....mostly hate for Fuegel , playable characters were all unique and fun as well and they really tried to flush out there character. The Dragoon mode i also loved lol specifically Roses she fucking was my anchor in that game. Either way will keep hope alive and pray Sony makes a good decision and creates a remake or a sequel:-)

Legend of Dragoon was a random buy for me when I was 10 because I thought the cover looked cool. It ended up being my first console RPG. My first rpg overall was technically pokemon, but that's not in the same vein as final fantasy. Like y'all said, parts of it really didn't age well. I think the menu system is one of those things. The characters were all pretty awesome though, and the story was actually a bit similar to FFIV with all that mind control and stuff. I think the addition system would have alot of potential in a remake that would make it a must buy for me. And how sick would it be to transform and fight as a dragoon in a remake? It seems like a no brainer to do one in my opinion: It's not nearly loved enough that people could find issue with a remake like FFVII, but I think it has enough issues that it would genuinely have an argument for one. And to boot they kind of pull an Aerith with the whole Lavitz scene, which was brilliant.

Exactly, and Lazitz death I actually liked more then Aerith, feels like he got more character development then she ever did in. Part of it was he was my hardest hitting character at the time so when he died i initially was like WTF that blows lucky we got a replacement that is basically his clone lol I do wish that the world map didn't have paths though..... I feel like that would have made them game feel way more open like the earlier FF games did.

I remember reading a list of the games with the best graphics on Ps1 and Chrono Cross Legend of Dragoon Final Fantasy IX were all at the top and those game actually look really good compared to very jaggy polygon 3D models in other Ps1 era games those 3 actually look good. If you play them on a Ps3 or something and turn on smoothing and original aspect ratio they look really good too.

If you play them on a Ps3 or something and turn on smoothing and original aspect ratios they look really good too. At the time i could agree, but you put someone younger then us into the players chair and have them play and many of them would be completely thrown off(i tried with my nephew and a few others). FF10 and up are good enough not to have this felt this sting, and 6 and earlier are stylized in a way that makes them timeless. Legend Of Dragoon fell into this unlucky time-frame as well, games striving to do so much and succeeding but people looking at them know may not be as inclined to look past the graphic to the steller story and gameplay. All in all it was good for it's time but i think just like FF7 it would have to be graphically re-hauled to get noticed again, even a game like FF7, newer people (ages 14 and under) are very unlikely to play it with so many other good titles coming out out and if they do there liable to be thrown off by them(noticing less and less patience for RPG's now days) Only people i imagine playing them are older people like us who enjoyed these games when they came out or people that are just really really really into RPG's. That why i am so excited about the 7 remake it may get newer players interested in this type of game, maybe even with luck get them to check out the older games :-)
