I was going to play FF14 with you guys but I live in the UK, was wondering if I buy it on Steam can I play on the US servers?
Also am I alright just playing basic since the goal is clearing the base game right or would I need the expansion to make the levelling faster/better?

Yeah if you are in Europe and want to play with American players on their servers you have to
Buy an American Copy of FFXIV Make a Square Enix/PlayOnline and FFXIV account for North America (NOT Europe) Be sure to put all your login in information for America. When you buy Time Cards you NEED to buy Time Cards from America like Amazon.com or something and not ones from Europe because they won't work.
