I believe Joe has made similar comments, but I find myself mention which games got me to buy which systems. So my question to you guys: What game caused you to buy (or ask/beg for) which system?
I bought an Atari 2600 because it was 10 dollars in a thrift shop and came with 20 games. I bought a NES to play Zelda. I bought a SNES to play Final Fantasy 3 (6), but also for Chrono Trigger. I never bought a gameboy, but I would have bought one for Tetris. I bought a PS2 to play Final Fantasy 9. I bought an artic DS to play Final Fantasy 3 (the actual 3). But I probably would have bought one to play Devil Survivor if I did not already own one. I bought a PSP to play GTA Vice City Stories I bought a PS3 because my wife wanted a Blu-Ray player. Weird now that I think about it. There was no game I was excited to play on it. I bought another PSP to play Final Fantasy IV Complete (UMD drive broke on the other). I bought a 3DSXL to play SMT IV (but also because I knew Bravely Default would be coming out soon). I bought a 2DS so that I could tag my 3DSXL (but also because my 3DSXL got water damaged. I needed to keep my Bravely Default fix while Nintendo repaired the XL.). I just now bought a Vita. I fought the urge for two years. I was about to buy one to play Persona 4 Golden, but got a nice fat speeding ticket and that killed those plans. I bought the Vita now so that I can play Golden, replay 9, and some old RPGs I missed. Classic RPGs seem to feel better on the small screen than on a big TV.
And by "bought" it usually means begged for.

Is this just bought systems, or gifted systems?
Whatever the case, I'll do both.
I received a Socrates system to learn and play at the same time. I received an SNES to play Mario Kart. I bought a Game Boy for Pokemon I bought a PS1 because of Final Fantasy VIII I bought a PS2 to upgrade, and for Final Fantasy X I bought a GameCube to experience Star Fox Adventures and the Star Wars Rogue Squadron games. I bought a Dreamcast to play Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, and Soul Calibur. I bought my Xbox for Fable and Halo 2 I bought a PSP for Lumines, and quickly traded it in, as there were way too few games for it. I bought a DS so my girlfriend at the time could play Nintendogs. When she broke up I sold it. I bought an Xbox 360 for Oblivion I bought a DS Lite for a trip overseas, and to play Phoenix Wright and Professor Leyton I bought a Wii to be part of the revolution, I even camped out overnight, my first and only time of doing that. I bought a PS3 for the blu-ray Player, nothing else (I did start to collect and play all the JRPGs, but at the time there weren't any but Disgaea and I am not a fan.) I bought a 3DS to upgrade my DS Lite. I bought a 3DSXL to upgrade my 3DS. I bought an Xbox One to prepare for Phantom Dust, and to have a nice user interface for all my media needs. I bought a PSVita to play ALL THE FINAL FANTASY games.

I was excited to play a game with both Chris and Leon in it, until I watched the trailers. And then I was no longer interested.

I always enjoy randomly playing a Tony Hawk or Burnout game. Nice little 5 minute sessions that turn into 1 or 2 hours.

But I have it for PC as well (my PC at the time was not good enough to mod it). And I disagree, the 360 version of Oblivion and Skyrim were better. (remember, Oblivion was a timed-Exclusive, and Skyrim was all sorts of brokted)

Burnout 3 is literally the best racing game ever made.

Wait? You can race in the Burnout games? I thought it was just about creating car crashes in intersections. :-P
One thing that bummed me out about the latest Twisted Metal game was that there was too much racing.
