This interview with Nomura mostly: www.vg247.com/2015/06/18/ff7-remake-we-dont-need-two-of-the-same-thing-says-nomura/And the fact that the game needs to be far more 'modernized' in its gameplay, particularly the battle system, in order to appeal to newer gamers and gamers who may be new to FF. I hate to be cynical, but this move strikes me as primarily a financial one from SE. Obviously they want to sell as many copies as possible, but they know that any fans of the original are essentially guaranteed buyers of this game, and so they need to be catering more towards gamers who may be new to FF by making the game more action-oriented (I would be very surprised if the ATB returned). Again, I hate to be cynical. I'm still very excited and this will be a day one pick up for me, but I'm not going in with the expectation of playing a familiar game. I think we are the cynical ones here... lol. Joe and I. Awww c'mon don't ruin the hype train! (a joke based on the latest podcast where you and Joe were reading comments from that one person dissing the FFVII remake....) I think it'll be so fun to see the cross dressing scene in HD, I feel like everyone is most excited about that  Hmmmm and yeah pretty much an scene having to do with Vincent because he's my favorite character from VII! |

After listening to your interview with the translation, I realized that after playing this game so many times there were parts of the story I had completely missed and/or misunderstood. I never really realized that Sephiroth was projecting his image through much of the game... how I missed that I'll never know. Looking forward to updating the dialogue.
Gold Saucer will look amazing. KotR summon will be mind blowing.
I'm very interested to see how navigating the Highwind around will look. I assume they will keep a world map in some manner. Navigating through the map was an important part of 7. There were lots of secrets only accessible once you had unlocked flight. Flying around the world I hope stays in and looks incredible. I'm trying to imagine flying over Midgar or seeing the Ultima Weapon flying around as you are chasing it to Mideel.
Very excited. All the changes. It'll be a new game and whatever comes with it, I'll play. We'll always be able to throw in the original if they change too much but if I could, I'd already have my preorder in.

I wonder if they'll leave Yuffie and Vincent optional or force them into the party for the sake of extra story content.
Optional/Missable party members is an aspect of FF I really wish would come back

Optional/Missable party members is an aspect of FF I really wish would come back I feel like they'll be required. Or at least Vincent will be. Idk his story is somewhat crucial to really understanding sephiroths history so it seems like for the sake of the story they would make him required. Yuffie I honestly don't give a flying fart in Finland about so they can do whatever they want to with her. |

What I would like is there not to be a remake, we don't need it. I know a lot of people been bitching about remake since ps2 days but I want new ideas for this series, why revisit something we already like? It's laziness, its like rebooting a movie which is also lazy. They know this will sell, that's the only reason for this. Some would say that's reason enough, but it's still lazy. We want new worlds to explore, new characters to journey with, new stories to love. We don't need this remake, fans say they want it but no matter how great they remake it, it will never satisfy fans enough.
