Not exactly a FF question, but I was just wondering what system you all first got and started playing games on? PC doesn't count, but gameboys and stuff do. My first system was a super nintendo. My memory doesn't go back to before me and my brother had it, so we must have got it at least 18 or 19 years ago. The games we had were DK country 2, Mario Paint, Super Mario World All Stars, some monster truck game, some racing game, and I think that was it. I know we never had any kind of memory card, because we always had to start over on donkey Kong country when we turned it off. We just thought that's what you had to do. That belief carried over to my first PS game, Croc, so I left it on overnight so I wouldn't lose progress. I don't think I got an FF game for PS until I was 10, and it was 9, followed by 8 and 7.
As for my favorite system; I have probably the most fond memories on my PS2 just because it also could play PS1 games. I remember near Christmas of 2003 my brother checked my mom's email to see if his soccer practice was cancelled, and instead saw an email about a shipping confirmation for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, which was what he asked for if we got a PS2 for christmas. I got LOTR return of the king, so it was a good year. A bunch of rambling so you guys don't have to share all these stories. I just feel like the "Best ___ in FF" lists have pretty much been covered so I wanted to ask a different question. Plus, I think the majority of you guys are older than me and (I would assume I'm about the same age as Kaleb and Joe) the hosts so I thought there would be some interesting responses and stories to this.

Well the first system I ever played on was the psone when I was very young and believe it or not the first game I played was ff7. But I was quite young so I didn't really play the full game till I was older but my sister would let me play her save file at the gold saucer and I would only play the mini games like the snowboarding. But it wasn't till I was a little older when I had the first system of my own which was the N64, shortly after getting a Dreamcast for 50$ as I remember from toys r us.
My favorite system on the other hand is the ps2 by far. It just had so many good games that have created such fond memories in my head. All the final fantasys, kingdom heart series, god of war, devil may cry, the jak series, ratchet and clank series, .hack series, and shadow of colossus are just a small amount of what their all was to enjoy on that great system

My first console: NES My first handheld: Gameboy
My favorite console(s) SNES, PS1 and PS2 they have the greatest game libraries of all time in my opinion. Oh and I have a special place in my heart for Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube and the GBA and 3DS and loving the PS Vita.
I've owned just about every Sega and Nintendo and Sony console only ever owned the original Xbox though never any of the other ones. Might get an Xbox 360 soon just to play Sakaguchi's (FF13) known as Lost Odyssey lol.

Very traditional combat system but it has a really gripping story (especially if you read the memories). Honestly I wouldn't buy a console solely for that, but it's still a good game. You've been around the block quite a bit with these systems. I think all the Nintendo handhelds are really under appreciated.

The first video game system we had, and this is slightly dating myself, was the Intellivision. We had pitfall and donkey kong for sure. Got a Sega Genesis after that. Lots of Mortal Kombat but no Final Fantasy.
My favorite system is the PS2. The games that I played on that system are some of my favorite of all time. FFX and FFXII. Shadow of the Colossuss. God of War. Dragonball Z. Backwards compatibility.

My first system was the original NES. My first game was Gauntlet, Duck Hunt, Mario, and that damned marble game. My history after that was the SNES (mostly Legend of Zelda:Link to the Past and Super Mario Bros), PS where my first game I played on/saw on that was FF7 which cultivated my love for the series, then it was the Gamecube which in my opinion was a fantastic system, PS2, Xbox where I fell in love with the Elder Scrolls through Morrowind, and then there was a long period until I got the Xbox 360. I have yet to get any next gen systems. I think my favorite system was in fact Gamecube. It was reliable, competitive graphics, and some really great titles. Everything Nintendo lost in the following generations maybe until very recently.
Eventually I want to get a PS4 to get on PSN and rekindle my love for the earlier Final Fantasy games not on Steam.

Ps4 version of PSN isn't backwards compatible. You have to get a PS3 if you want to buy most of the FF games on that PSN.

My very first gaming console was a Nintendo NES. Loved it, and had some very fond memories playing games with my siblings growing up. I then had a Playstation for about....well, until the Playstation 2 came out. Then, when the next gens came out, I purchased an XBox to tinker with. I wound up buying an X-Chip, which was an emulator that had every single NES, SNES, and SEGA game ever made on it, and soldering it onto the hard drive of the XBox- got a ton of use out of that. I bought a 360, and for the last 7ish years have been gaming mostly there. I only recently bought a PS3, an older version that plays PS1 and 2 games, and still use my Vita and occasionally my Nintendo DS.
In the last few years, I've slowly been seeking out and buying older consoles, and now have almost a dozen including a Game Gear and an Atari 1200XL that I found at a yard sale in the original box. My love of games extends to all systems- no discriminating here <3
Favorite system by far is the PS2. It had the most impressive library, and games were being released on it for a long time after the next gens came out. While I do love how the online interfaces allow for game demos, trials, and downloads, there is something about having all of those pretty game cases lined up on a shelf. To this day I buy physical copies of games whenever I can, because to me, that's the best way to own a game.
I'll be getting a PS4 soon for XIV, and am so excited to join the next gen crowd <3

My first console was also a Nintendo nes. My fist game on it was Mario. Played that for a few months and eventually got a legend of Zelda game and loved that too after I threw the controller at the wall so many times for not figuring out how to beat it, lol. Then I got a super Nintendo and I became infatuated with the games I got from that era of vgames. From super metroid to Mario 123 and donkey Kong then on to MEGAMAN X. <--- loved that game soooo much. Then I saw something strange in a store one day and became intrigued. MYSTIC QUEST. It both confused me and left a impression on me I couldn't let go. Its bad taste was so off putting I needed a cleanser and nothing i had could cure my feeling. Then it came. At Christmas I got a copy of FINAL FANTASY I. It blew my mind. I was infatuated and I was being pulled in to the RPG genre like never before. The art, the music, the characters, the story. All of it grabbed my heart like a snake and never let go. After beating it I craved more. I needed ff in my life like a piece of ambrosia you eat for the first time and feel like nothing compares to it. So I collected the second one. FINAL FANTASY II. It killed a lot of my buzz but kept the hunger for more in me. I began looking for 3 but found no sign of it. I looked online and found out it was a Japan exclusive and my heart was crushed. With my hopes dashed of getting another one I became depressed and began buying different games to fill my needs but none could compare. From the super Nintendo to the n64 to the Sega Saturn and Sega genesis. Then one day I saw a neet looking system at a game stop. It was a PlayStation. To be continued....

PlayStation. Oh playstation, the stories I have had playing that system could fill volumes of scripts and threads for day to come. Upon Christmas morning I received a game I had been eyeing within a inch of my soul. There it was "FINAL FANTASY IV w/ CHRONO CROSS" bundle. Another final fantasy all for me to play. And play I did for hours and hours then hours turned into days and sleep became me. There all by itself in the box was the copy of chrono trigger. It was new to my eyes and I was unsure to make of it. I read of the company seal. By SquareSoft. And looked inside its contents of style. Punch! Kick! Slap! ?? <B ?<B !!!<B!!! So much was inside this game! Its art, the music, the character, and oh the story it told. Have I found a competitor to the final fantasy brand. I hushed to even utter the word. Debating its merits and faults to that of my first kiss with FINAL FANTASY. It proved a valued competition. Still it could not compete with my love like FINAL FANTASY already took hold of. Then without warning the move happened and I was shipped over to "Iceland"- brrrrr. Were my brother was born so was my craving to be stateside and reach out to the other final fantasy games in the series. 3 long winters I stood watch looking to the west each night holding for a gift from the gods to put me where I could be close to my love. I screamed, I cried and I clawed my back and I had succeeded. Upon reaching the shores of my homeland I transfixed my eyes toward he internet to scour for a sequel to my beloved. low and behold my time away and brought not one but five darlings into my life. From seeing the news upon my scree . I rushed to my parents to buy me the new games as swiftly as they could and they dilivered. With me I gained the first in my quest for a final fantasy sequel. FINAL FANTASY VII. This treasure of a game plucked soon many things. My soul, my heart, my body. My love was restored once more back into my beloveds embrace. Final fantasy 7 made me cry and laugh along with fill with rage with what will become one of the most iconic bosses of the series. Sephiroth.....to be continued.

Oh boy, I had fun reading everyone's responses to this question! Chocobochica, finding video game consoles at garage sales IS THE BEST THING EVER! I also love looking for games, controllers, etc. to buy for like a $1 from people who have no clue how much the stuff can be worth. And Krinital, CHRONO TRIGGER is sooooooo great. Honestly I started with Cross, which I also love, but ugh both games are definitely in my top whatever best games list. Let's see, the first system I ever played (my Dad owned them ) was the Nintendo! My brother and I would play Blades of Steel, Duck Hunt, and Super Mario 3 all of the time. Also my Dad had Tecomo Bowl which I'd watch him play. I believe growing up with a brother helped me get into gaming. From there we had a Super Nintendo and we'd play just about everything, our favorites being Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and I'd have my parents rent me Zelda A Link to the Past! Whew. Out of every system so far, I'd have to say my favorite is also the PS2! Isn't it crazy fun to see how many of us love that damn machine?! I have a feeling that machines such as the PS4, Xbox One, etc. will not stick around and be as loved as the PS2. There are so many amazing games for it and yes the backwards compatibility really knocked it up a notch for me. I had the original big hulky PS2 that sounded like a plane about to take off. I now own the slim version. Another system I would like to point out that was awesome and way ahead of it's time was the Sega Dreamcast! My brother bugged and bugged our parents for one until he finally got it. The graphics on that thing blew us away! I remember watching him play Shenmu 2 and I was obsessed with Skies of Arcadia. Aahhhhhhhh such great memories! He still has the system today, speaking of which I need to see if he wants to break it out and play it soon!

It was the first system to use discs if im not mistaken and graphically is was superior to everything else on the market. I'm a huge sonic fan and nothing beats sonic adventure 1 and sonic adventure 2. Also the system had alot of underrated games on it like Phantasy Star Online and Power Stone which was one of the most unique fighting games i have ever played

My first system was an NES that belonged to my father. I worked very hard in an attempt to master Super Mario Bros. but I never beat the game. I probably could easily now, but I was like... six back then. But I did get pretty good at Duck Hunt. The first system that was actually bought for me and my younger sister was a PS2. We skipped over the PS1 because I had not really gotten into video games at that point. I was much more likely to have my nose in a book than playing a videogame. But then I spent the night at a friend's house and we took turns playing her PS2. I don't even remember what game it was that I played, and never did find out. But I begged my parents for a PS2. And once we got a PS2, my cousin introduced me to a game called "Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy" and thus began my long love affair with video games. Final Fantasy X came into the picture not long after, and I've been hooked on the series ever since.
So I'd have to say that the PS2 was my favorite. It introduced me to so many game series that I'm still in love with to this day.
