I called my buddy up as soon as I saw Midgar show up on the screen and I don't think I've ever been so happy with watching E3 as I was today. I don't think it'll be the same story as the original but I'm still fucking pumped for this!

I also worry they will change the story quite a bit. I was all hype just for a release with updated character models and roughly the same game but I know That's impossible.
Who am I kidding though? I'm still gonna buy it.

-Narration is just alluding to what the player experienced and basically Square announcing the project (the promise).
-Cloud's buster sword is the original design.
-Barrett's gun arm is similar to his Advent Children design.
-Midgar is goddamn huge.
I feel like for those of us that are hardcore fans of FFVII should come to terms with the idea that this will feel entirely different from the original or what we'd experience from a remaster. Just from that quick snippet of the slums the depth to the environment feels like something from Blade Runner. It's kinda crazy. Hopefully this won't self implode.

Honestly think the game will still be 100% worth the money; Square really can't afford to fuck this up. I am kind of bummed by the fact that the story will most like change a bit but eh, I played the original so whatever. I sincerely hope they DON'T do a complete overhaul of the battle system though (make it action-based) because I miss the goddamn ATB bullshit lol.

Unbelievable. I really never thought this day would come. The CG in the trailer looks amazing, it looked better than anything we've ever seen by them. I absolutely cannot wait for this game!

F my life, it's being directed by nomura I know and they played the Advent Children music. I'm a little scared of what they might turn this into. I kinda wished they had somehow convinced the "Guch" to come back for this one considering the role he played in it's original development. |

I watched the video at like 5 am today. I don't think this is going to be a remake of VII- too many things seem off...
I noticed a couple things, like you guys, that have made me think this is post-FF VII and post Advent Children.
"The memory of the star that threatened all burns eternal in our hearts..." - Meteor for sure.
"But after the long calm there are now the beginnings of a stir- the reunion at hand may bring joy..."- a Reunion reference. Advent Children much?
"For they are coming back....At last, the promise has been made."- omg. The Ancients? Promised Land? Are the Ancients coming back?
Also, I'm glad I held off on getting my FFVII tattoo. I was going to get Meteor from the logo, and I still will. But I'm going to go with the new logo...it looks so badass.

Also my other complaint is I never liked Cloud's advent children hair. I liked how they made him look hair wise in kingdom hearts.
Tiny little baby complaint but it was part of the charm all the way.
Maybe it will be amazing and they keep the depth and humor of the original. Like on the boat on disc one with red13 trying to stand like a soldier and almost failing.

I argued earlier that we don't "need" this remake but after watching that trailer I definitely want it. I don't think they're going to change the story, they should know better, I just think that narration was to the fans. I don't believe it had anything to do with the story.
