I watched the video at like 5 am today. I don't think this is going to be a remake of VII- too many things seem off... I noticed a couple things, like you guys, that have made me think this is post-FF VII and post Advent Children. "The memory of the star that threatened all burns eternal in our hearts..." - Meteor for sure. "But after the long calm there are now the beginnings of a stir- the reunion at hand may bring joy..."- a Reunion reference. Advent Children much? "For they are coming back....At last, the promise has been made."- omg. The Ancients? Promised Land? Are the Ancients coming back? Also, I'm glad I held off on getting my FFVII tattoo. I was going to get Meteor from the logo, and I still will. But I'm going to go with the new logo...it looks so badass. Didn't the last thing that popped up on the screen say "remake" though? I think that takes the ambiguity out of it ha but I watched it at 3am so I could be wrong also. But nobody seems to be interpreting it that way

I'm not interpreting it that way I suppose- "Remake" is very vague, and Square has been known to bait-and-switch at the last second. They called X/X-2 "HD Remastered", so why isn't this called the same thing? I'm withholding judgement on this until more info comes out.

I'm not really sure why everyone is hating on Nomura being the director. He did an excellent job with Kingdom Hearts and he has done a lot of work with FFXV which looks excellent.

He continues to retcon a game he wasn't in charge of, and kitase is being seriously underutilized at square.

I think it's only because Joe doesn't want to be a grandpa when this game comes out. I remember when they moved Nomura (supposedly) to just KHIII, Kaleb and Joe were happy because working on two games like that obviously is too much and takes too long. Not all his fault obviously but yeah. The consensus seems to be that this game will be out in 2017, but I'd kind of be surprised if they have anything besides this trailer to show for development at this point in time

That's mostly what it is. However, with nomura in charge of the development team, the game is gonna have a very different feel from the original. Kitase directed vii originally, and i think he should be in charge of the remake, not advent children guy...

It is so early to be worried or excited. Think of how long this is in coming. This has been whispered about for like a decade.
I'm still way excited though.

I agree. Judgement withheld for now. I just hope we don't just get a few videos over a nine year span. Lol. I highly doubt it will take anywhere near that long.

People are saying it will get a 2017 release since its the 20th FF7 anniversary then. We are getting more FF7 remake details in winter so hopefully we learn more about it then. Nomura said in an interview that development started already a year or more ago so the game is already in development and I think its going to use the existing FFXV engine so add 1-2 years of development time already and then add like 2-3 more and thats like 5 years of development for a 2017 release and I think that is going to happen

When was the last time nomura finished something? He's been involved with or directed all the handheld games for a long time and those were always on time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsuya_NomuraNomura is the best person to be involved with FF7 along with Kazushige Nojima and Yoshinori Kitase who all worked on the original and will be working on the remake.

It doesn't say a lot but it confirms some stuff. Also on kotaku and a few other sites

Also on kotaku and a few other sites I think it's really awesome that he can acknowledge the fact that the game had it's flaws; the Mega Blocks reference made me chuckle especially. I think Nomura hit the nail on the head though, the game does need a bit of an update, not just graphically. I'm now kind of upset that I know this is coming just because of how long I have to wait for it...not sure if I can contain myself or not until 2017.

Also my other complaint is I never liked Cloud's advent children hair. I liked how they made him look hair wise in kingdom hearts. Tiny little baby complaint but it was part of the charm all the way. Maybe it will be amazing and they keep the depth and humor of the original. Like on the boat on disc one with red13 trying to stand like a soldier and almost failing. I giggled this is a must in HD
